«You have to reach muscular failure on every set»
Nuanced
What the evidence says
Training close to failure (1–3 RIR) gives you almost all of the stimulus with far less fatigue. Going to failure on every set drives fatigue up and harms your total volume and recovery. Save failure for isolation work or the occasional last set.
How settled this is
Proximity to failure matters; constant absolute failure is not optimal.
